Shanynthia Gardner was charged Thursday on the murder and child abuse
charges in the stabbing deaths of her four young children.
According to the Shelby County district attorney's office, the woman from Tennessee is being held in jail without bond.
Shanynthia
also faces four counts of first degree murder while committing
aggravated child abuse; four counts of aggravated child neglect or
endangerment and four counts of aggravated child abuse.
According
to Dallen - the oldest son of Gardner - she cut her children's throats
at her apartment and he was able to escape and told a neighbor his
mother was stabbing his sister.
Authorities found the bodies of three daughters and a son, all younger than 5.
The
youngest child, six-month old Yahzi, was dead in a baby carrier in the
living room, her sister, three-year-old Sya, was discovered next to her.
In a nearby bedroom, deputies found Sahvi,
two, lying on a mattress and her four-year-old brother, Tallen, on the
floor next to her.
A neighbor told officers that he saw Shanynthia come outside with a large knife in her hand, then re-enter the residence.

Clayton, the grandmother of seven-year-old Dallen who managed to run
away has said she does not understand what could have led the mother to
attack her children.
Friends of hers, including the father of the child who escaped, say they cannot believe that it happened.
